Tuition
Tuition will cover supplies, advertising, and rental costs. We are dedicated to providing options for those who need financial assistance to pay the full tuition. Waivers are submitted for review before the first class. *No one will be denied entry due to inability to pay tuition.
Covid-19 Safety
To ensure ongoing safety and compliance with CDC (Centers for Disease Control) guidelines, each classroom will be thoroughly cleaned before and after every session. Students will be encouraged to wear face masks (gloves are optional). They will also be reminded of safety procedures such as maintaining distance and practicing good hygiene. Temperatures will be taken before entering the classroom. It is crucial that anyone participating in any school activity informs mentors and/or school staff of any symptoms and reports illness or health concerns immediately. Class sizes will be limited to no more than six students and 1-2 mentors. Outside visitors will not be permitted unless authorized by the Facilitator. These measures will stay in effect to protect everyone's safety.
Class sizes
Hopitutuqaiki’s teaching style is similar to learning from your grandparents. Each class needs at least 2 students and can have up to 6. Supplies are included for all students. Sign up now by calling, texting, or emailing us. If a class is full, contact us to be added to the waiting list.

Sio Qwasa
A mentor will guide students in making a Zuni dress. March 10th through March 13th. Class will be held Monday through Thursday from 5:30-9:00 pm. Location: Hopitutuqaiki office. Class size is limited to 6 students. Tuition: $70.00

Applique: Wool, Machine, and Hand Applique
Students will learn three types of applique techniques used in embellishment. Some sewing experience is required. March 21st through March 23rd: Friday 6:00 pm-9:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am-5:00 pm, and Sunday 9:00 am-12 pm. Location: Hopitutuqaiki office. Class size is limited to 6 students. Tuition:$70.00

Beginning Crochet
This class is for those interested in learning basic crochet or those who would like to refresh their crochet skills. Students will learn the basic crochet stitches used in making the Pozhohokyanapna. March 24th through March 27th. The class will be held Monday through Thursday from 5:30-8:30 pm. Location: Hopitutuqaiki office. Class size is limited to 6 students. Tuition: $60.00

Contemporary Hopi style dress with applique designs
A mentor will guide students in making a contemporary-style dress embellished with applique designs. This is an advanced class, and sewing experience is required. March 31st through April 3rd. The class will be held Monday through Thursday from 6:00-9:00 pm. Location: Hopitutuqaiki office. Class size is limited to 6 students. Tuition: $60.00

Beginning Sewing
Students will learn from threading your sewing machine to troubleshooting with an introduction to quilt piecing. Easy projects will be constructed. April 5th and 6th. Saturday 9:00 am-5:00 pm and Sunday 9:00 am-3:00 pm. Location: Hopitutuqaiki office. Class size is limited to 6 students. Tuition: $70.00

Traditional Hopi Shoemaking
Students will learn to make Hopi shoes using the inside stitch. Experience with leatherwork preferred. This class is open to initiated Hopi men and women 18 and older—April 7th through April 10th. The class will be held Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am-2:00 pm Location: Peace Academy Center classroom #4. Class size is limited to 6 students. Tuition: $100.00

Pozhohokyanapna
Students will learn to crochet white ceremonial leggings. This is an advanced class; crochet experience is required. (2 weeks) April 7th through April 10th and April 14th through April 17th. The class will be held Monday through Thursday from 5:30-8:30 pm. Location: Hopitutuqaiki office. Class size is limited to 6 students. Tuition: $120.00

Tufa Cast Jewelry
A mentor will guide students in learning this introductory jewelry-making technique. No jewelry-making experience is required. (2 weeks) April 7th through April 10th AND April 14th through April 17th. The class will be held Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. Location: The artist/mentor's studio is in Kykotsmovi, AZ. Class size is limited to 3 students. Tuition: $200.00

Pitkuna Embroidery
A mentor will guide students in learning to embroider the Pitkuna design on monk's cloth (provided by Hopitutuqaiki) or on a Kwatskyavuh (supplied by the student). This class is open to initiated Hopi men and women. (4 weeks) April 21st through May 16th. The class will be held Monday through Friday from 5:30-9:00 pm. Location: Hopitutuqaiki office. Class size is limited to 6 students. Tuition: $350.00

Hopi Noova (Hopi foods)
A mentor will guide students in preparing Hopi foods. This class is open to students 14 years old and over. April 28th through May 2nd. The class will be held Monday through Friday from 8:00 am-1:00 pm. Location: Iskasopku Gallery, Highway 264-mile marker 380.4, Songopavi, AZ. Class size is limited to 6 students. Tuition: $125.00

Tuu ii'hii' (White cotton cape)
Students will learn how to construct a white cotton cape using cotton fabrics and sewing machine applique.' This is an advanced sewing class; applique' experience is required. This class is open to Hopi women. April 28th through May 2nd. The class will be held Monday through Friday from 1:00-5:00 pm. Location: Hopitutuqaiki office. Class size is limited to 4 students. Tuition: $80.00

Contemporary Hopi Shoe Making
A mentor will guide students in learning to make a pair of Hopi-style moccasins using a technique developed by the mentor. This class is for initiated Hopi men and women ages 18 and older. No leatherwork experience is required. May 5th through May 9th. The class will be held Monday through Friday from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. Location: Hopitutuqaiki office Class is limited to 6 students. Tuition: $125.00

Men's Singing Shirt with Applique'
A mentor will guide students in embellishing a men's shirt with applique designs. This is an advanced class, and sewing experience is required. May 12th through May 15th. Class will be held Monday through Thursday from 5:30-9:00 pm. Location: Hopitutuqaiki office. Class size is limited to 6 students. Tuition: $70.00

Old-style Katsina doll Carving
A mentor will guide students in learning to carve a Katsina doll and use natural pigments to paint their project. This class is for initiated Hopi men 16 years of age and older. (2 weeks) June 9th through June 13th AND June 16th through June 20th. The class will be held Monday through Friday from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. Location: The studio of the artist/mentor is located on Highway 264 at mile marker 367.9 in Hotevilla, AZ. Class size is limited to 4 students. Tuition: $250.00

Atöö
A mentor will guide students in making a Hopi woman's woven cape. This class is for initiated Hopi men ages 18 years old and over. Weaving experience is required, as diamond twill and diagonal twill techniques will be taught. (4 weeks) June 2nd through June 27th. The class will be held Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Location: PAC classroom #4. Class size is limited to 4 students. Tuition: $500.00
